ClearLeaf’s GotaBlanca Demonstrates Superior Performance in Cornell University Apple and Grape Trials
SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica — November 6, 2025: ClearLeaf announced major results from independent trials conducted by Cornell University's Cornell AgriTech, confirming that its flagship fungi-bactericide GotaBlanca delivers high-performance control of fungal and bacterial diseases in apples and grapes. The trials showed that GotaBlanca matched or outperformed conventional standards while maintaining an exceptional safety profile for crops and the environment.
Apple Trials: Strong Control of Fire Blight, Scab & Powdery Mildew
In the apple trials, GotaBlanca demonstrated:
- Superior control of fire blight
- Enhanced control of scab and powdery mildew
- Performance significantly better than streptomycin antibiotics, banned in organic production since 2014
When incorporated into rotation programs, GotaBlanca matched or exceeded multi-product conventional programs with zero phytotoxicity across all applications.
Expert Commentary – Dr. Kerik Cox, Cornell AgriTech
“In our fire blight trials, GotaBlanca achieved 90% or greater control—surpassing streptomycin. Its performance in scab and powdery mildew rotation programs matched or exceeded conventional mixtures, while maintaining excellent crop health. The absence of phytotoxicity is a meaningful advantage for growers.”
Grape Trials: Superior Performance Under High Disease Pressure
In grape trials, GotaBlanca delivered:
- 86% cluster severity control for downy mildew in standalone treatment
- Rotation programs exceeding 89% control
- Black rot incidence control equivalent to systemic synthetic fungicides
- High performance even under extreme disease pressure
Expert Commentary – Dr. Katie Gold & Dave Combs, Cornell AgriTech
“GotaBlanca showed versatility both as a standalone and rotation partner. Its performance on downy mildew surpassed grower standards, and black rot control was equivalent to systemic synthetics despite extremely high pressure. GotaBlanca integrates smoothly into IPM programs and supports sustainable viticulture.”
Company Perspective: Better Control With Fewer Inputs
ClearLeaf’s CSO and Co-founder, Dr. Agustín Büchert, stated:
“These Cornell trials validate years of grower experience in Latin America. GotaBlanca matched or exceeded the disease control achieved by multi-product conventional programs using a single product. This reduces cost, chemical load, and operational complexity while delivering superior crop health and, in many cases, better yields.”
